| Introduction
Monmouth Medical Center’s three-year internal
medicine residency program, accredited since 1950,
combines clinical and formal education in a setting
that encourages open discussion and teamwork among
the residents and faculty.
The program is designed to provide
optimum training in internal medicine, emphasizing
the diagnosis and treatment of the ambulatory patient
with continuity into the inpatient setting. It continues
to provide appropriate training for individuals who
also wish to proceed to subspecialty fellowship training.
Our graduates have been successful both in entering
primary care practices in a variety of settings and
in obtaining highly competitive subspecialty fellowships.
