PGY-I Monthly Blocks

  • Floor - eight months

PGY-II Monthly Blocks

  • Floor - four months

  • Floor night float - one month

  • Critical care - one month

  • Emergency medicine - one month

  • Electives - two months

  • Vacation - four weeks

  • Geriatrics/Rehabilitation Medicine - one month

  • Hospitalist Medical Service - one month

PGY-III Monthly Blocks

  • Critical care - two months

  • Medical consultation - one month

  • Adolescent medicine - one-half month

  • Electives - seven-and-one-half months

  • Vacation - one month

Floor and critical care calls are every fourth night. Night float takes over for floor on-call people. Residents assigned to the critical care stay overnight. Night float takes over care for the floor on-call teams at 11 p.m. overnight Sunday through Thursday. Night float is not in effect on Friday or Saturday evenings. Residents have a half-day per week continuity ambulatory clinic session during all three years of the program. They also participate during their PGY-III year in another private practice setting. Required electives include Neurology, Cardiology, Pulmonary, Hematology/Oncology and Gastroenterology.
