Research
The
Department of Medicine at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
stresses the importance of research as a
vital component to medical training. The department has
been highly successful in producing new academicians and
increasing medical knowledge through research as evidenced
by recent presentations by residents at meetings such as:
The Society of General Internal Medicine, The Infectious
Disease Society of America and The American Society of Hematology.
Many of the full-time faculty members
enjoy national reputations for their research, and are actively
engaged in funded research projects.
The
medical resident who is interested in scholarly activity
will be able to select from a number of experienced faculty
members who will provide necessary mentoring and supervision.
Residents are encouraged to learn about ongoing research
activities in the various subspecialty areas and to become
active participants in these research programs. Many residents
spend part or all of their elective rotations in research
activities. Computers throughout the hospital have internet
access to Up-To-Date Pub Med and other online resources.
