Thank you for taking time to review information about the
Saint Barnabas Integrated Pathology Residency Program. It
gives me great pleasure to welcome you to this site and have
the opportunity to showcase our program. Saint Barnabas has
a long history of graduate medical education in Pathology,
hosting residents continuously since 1947. Newark Beth Israel
and Monmouth Medical also share a long-term involvement in
pathology postgraduate education. We have trained residents
who are currently practicing throughout the United States
and Canada, as well as Argentina, The Dominican Republic,
The Philippines, Japan, New Zealand and the US Virgin Islands.
We maintain contact with many of our graduates who practice
in New Jersey, keeping up with their progress and successes.
We are always available to assist them with difficult situations.
To
us, postgraduate education does not end when a resident graduates
from the program. Rather, it is a career commitment to life-long
learning. Our residents are a source of inspiration and motivation
to be the best in our specialty and in our daily lives. A
symbiotic relationship is formed between resident and teacher
affording opportunities for learning on both sides.
Our program is structured and organized with designated
rotations having specific goals and objectives. We strive
to give our residents the best possible training and to that
extent we feel we have achieved our goal. To date, 93% of
our graduates who have taken the certifying examination of
the American Board of Pathology have been successful. Our
commitment to the education of our residents is unconditional
and we intend to keep it that way.
Jonathan F. Lara, M.D.
