Transitional
Year Residency

The Transitional
Year Program, one of our most popular and competitive
programs, usually accepts individuals who are interested
in a broad based, diverse, and flexible educational year
prior to beginning their specialty training.
During their various rotations,
Transitional Residents and PGY I Categorical (Specialty)
Residents function as equals, and in all respects are
indistinguishable. All our residencies are fully approved,
and the quality of the education experience is reflected
by our fully-staffed complement in every specialty.
The Program Director for
the Transitional Residency is also the Director of Medical
Education for the institution, and thus provides effective
advocacy and leadership for the residents. Team meetings
are scheduled throughout the year, and at least 3 individual
conferences are held annually with each resident to discuss
evaluations and career counseling.
