Empowerment Through Knowledge: Annual Breast Cancer Treatment Update

This free program, presented by The Cancer Centers of Saint Barnabas Medical Center as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is an opportunity for breast cancer patients and their families to hear from a multidisciplinary team of physician experts regarding current topics in the treatment of breast cancer. A light dinner will be served. Nothing Comes Between You and Your Genes

This complimentary program will feature two experts: Dr. Michele Blackwood, MD, FACS, Director of Breast Health and Disease Management, and Janice Berliner, MS, CGC, board-certified genetic counselor, The Cancer Center. Dr. Blackwood will discuss breast cancer screening and follow-up for those who are low, moderate or high risk. Ms. Berliner will then discuss the basics of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer from a genetics perspective, the importance of family history, genetic testing and counseling, and risk assessment.
