The Safe House is a safe shelter for battered women and their
children located in Essex County. A 24-hour hotline provides timely
and immediate assistance. Admission can be obtained by calling
the Hotline. The Safe House provides safe, temporary housing for
women and children. Also provided are emergency medical treatment;
emotional support; short-term counseling to those in crisis and
assistance with welfare, child care, vocational and educational
referrals; legal advocacy; housing advocacy; help in police and
court proceedings, and nutritional meals.
