Toms River, N.J., July 21, 2003 – Since its inception in 1975, Community Medical Center’s Second Time Around Consignment Shop has been a major contributor to the success of the hospital’s Auxiliary. In 2002, the Second Time Around Shop reached a major milestone in its history, realizing $2 million in total funds raised through the sale of used and consignment items.
Recently, the more than 160 volunteers who keep the shop running on a daily basis were recognized by the hospital and its Foundation at the shop’s annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon. Lorraine Larsen, Vice President of the Second Time Around Consignment Shop, was presented with a plaque in honor of the shop surpassing the $2 million contribution mark.
Richard J. Pallamary, Vice President of the Community Medical Center Foundation, said, “The Second Time Around Shop is a great source of support for the hospital. Since items are sold at such great prices, the community benefits as well.”
A variety of items can be found for sale at the shop, including clothing, household items such as dishes and linens, holiday decorations and even wedding dresses. All proceeds from the shop benefit Community Medical Center.
“We are so proud of the success of the thrift shop,” Pallamary said, “not to mention grateful to the dedicated volunteers who help to operate the store. Their generosity goes a long way in helping to make Community Medical Center a better place for the patients we serve.”
The Second Time Around Shop is located at 200 Corporate Circle in Corporate Park North, just off Route 37 West in Toms River. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. from Monday through Saturday and 6 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday evenings.
