TOMS RIVER, New Jersey, September 24, 2007--- The Center for Women’s Health at Community Medical Center is offering a slate of programs this fall to help the community live emotionally and physically healthier lives. Upcoming programs include:
It’s Not All in Your Head!
When the ovaries begin to sputter, hormone production sputters and so do we. Forgetfulness and cloudy thinking, mental confusion and mood swings are characteristic symptoms for many women. And the degree to which women experience discomfort is likely to be associated with the degree to which their hormones are out of balance.
Toms River - Monday, October 15, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Serving Up Good Nutrition
This workshop was designed to address the changing nutritional needs of older adults, who have special nutritional needs, many of which are related to loss of lean body mass, reduced activity level and a slowed metabolism. This results in the need for fewer calories to maintain weight. As food intake declines, the nutritional content of foof eaten each day becomes more important. At the end of this workshop each person will be able to identify two suggestions for making a meal healthier; choose one better food choice in each food group and name three nutrient deficiencies associated with aging.
Toms River – Monday, October 29, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Taking Steps for Stronger Bones
This workshop will provide an osteoporosis overview, with the first hour devoted to general bone health, risk factors, diagnosis and treatment options. The second hour will focus on weight-bearing exercise as both a treatment for osteoporosis and preventive measure. This portion will include an exercise demonstration, so participants should wear comfortable clothing and flat shoes.
Presented by Kathy Siciliano, R.N., C.D.E.
Toms River – Tuesday, October 30, 2 – 3 p.m.
Hypnosis for Weight Loss
Through this program, advanced clinical hypnotherapist John Mercurio will explain how hypnosis can be used to help lose weight and keep it off. Those who attend this lecture will have a better understanding of how hypnosis works, learn about the misconceptions of hypnosis and see why so many people have reached their ideal weight through the power of hypnosis.
