Toms River, N.J. May 1, 2008 – Mark D. Pilla, Executive Vice President of Operations for the Saint Barnabas Health Care System and Executive Director of Community Medical Center was honored with the President’s Award from the New Jersey State Nurses’ Association (NJSNA) at their annual convention held earlier this month in Atlantic City.
NJSNA president Linda M. Gural, RN, CCRN, an intensive care nurse at Community Medical Center, said, “This award is presented to a non-nursing person who in the opinion of the President of the NJSNA has worked to elevate the profession of nursing. Mr. Pilla has provided the support, resources and vision to implement innovate programs for the benefit of nurses.”
Gural added, “Mr. Pilla is known for his open door policy and his keen ability to communicate. He is a man who does what he says.”
In his acceptance speech, Pilla called the award a “true honor.” He said, “I am very fortunate to work for the Saint Barnabas Health Care System which believes nursing is the key. We hold nurses in the highest regard and I am so fortunate to work with so many fine individuals who are dedicated to offering the highest quality health care to our patients.”
Pilla added that he has worked with Gural at Community since 1983 and was “extremely proud” she recognized him with the award.
