Vendors Sought for ‘Dog Walk for Cancer’
Fall Event to Benefit Cancer Services at Community Medical Center

Toms River, N.J., April 2, 2009 – Community Medical Center is seeking vendors for the Dog Walk for Cancer to be held Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ocean County Park, Route 88 in Lakewood.

The vendor fee is $50, and all vendors must donate an item for the gift auction being held in conjunction with the Dog Walk. Vendor spaces will be juried for admittance. Pet related products preferred.

All proceeds of the event will benefit Community Medical Center’s J. Phillip Citta Regional Cancer Center and local therapy dog organizations that certify pet therapy dogs. The dogs attend an eight week course that trains them to be accustomed to hospital equipment such as walkers and wheelchairs, and to be around strangers and patients. Community Medical Center’s oncology patients receive daily visits from trained pet therapy dogs who contribute to the healing atmosphere, ease loneliness and bolster self-esteem.

The Dog Walk is not a race, but an event to symbolize concern for the cause of cancer and the benefit of pet therapy. To participate, dogs must be leashed at all times, up to date on vaccinations and handled by an adult.

To learn more about vendor opportunities or to participate in the Dog Walk, contact Tracie Barberi- Matthews at 732-831-0203 or Renee Shriver at 732- 673-1848. E-mail: Dogwalkforcancer@yahoo.com or visit our website at www.saintbarnabas.com.
