Celebrate Heart Month at Community Medical Center’s Heart Fair

TOMS RIVER, NJ, FEBRUARY 2, 2009 – Heart disease and stroke are the number one killer of American adults, claiming more lives than all forms of cancer. Since 1963, the United States Congress has proclaimed February “American Heart Month” to educate the public on the dangers of heart disease and the importance of a heart-healthy lifestyle.

To celebrate American Heart Month, Community Medical Center will hold its fourth annual “Heart Fair” on Wednesday, February 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospital’s Outpatient Lobby.

The event is free and pre-registration is not required. Participants may stop by throughout the day and learn the basic steps to take to achieve optimal heart health. Free blood pressure screenings and glucose testing will be available. Information on all of Community Medical Center’s cardiac services will be available, including its newest service – elective angioplasty – which will begin being performed in Spring 2009.

There will be a drawing for a prize basket and take-away information on many aspects of heart disease detection, prevention and treatment.

For more information on any of Community Medical Center’s cardiac programs, or for referral to a physician, call 1-888-SBHS-123 or visit www.saintbarnabas.com.
