Center for Kids and Family at Community Medical Center Offers Programs for Parents and Children

TOMS RIVER, NJ, FEBRUARY 26, 2009 – The Center for Kids & Family at Community Medical Center is committed to responding to the growing physical, social, psychological and emotional needs of today’s family. The Center strives to assist families in meeting the varies and sometimes staggering challenges they face daily.

The Center for Kids & Family offers a wide array of programs for parents and children. Pre-registration for all programs is required by calling 1-888-SBHS-123.

Programs offered during the month of March include:

Lead Poisoning Prevention
Tuesday, March 3
6 p.m.
The Center for Kids & Family, 591 Lakehurst Road, Toms River

Many people think that lead poisoning is a thing of the past, but 720 children in New Jersey were poisoned from lead last year alone. This program will teach parents about the most common sources of lead and how to prevent children from ingesting it. Additionally, the program will discuss the importance of getting children tested for lead and how to interpret the results.

Kids & Divorce Support Group
Saturday, March 14
9:30 a.m.
The Center for Kids & Family, 591 Lakehurst Road, Toms River

Separation and divorce are difficult times for the whole family. This professionally-facilitated support group is designed for children ages 7 – 12 who have experienced a separation or divorce in their family.

Bereavement Support for Children
Saturday, March 14
11 a.m.
The Center for Kids & Family, 591 Lakehurst Road, Toms River

This professionally-facilitated support group is for children ages
7 – 14 who have lost a parent, grandparent, sibling or friend.
