Diagnostic Cardiology Services
The Non-Invasive Cardiac Lab (NICL) at Community Medical Center provides diagnostic cardiology services including EKGs, stress testing, echocardiograms, echo dopplers, transesophageal echocardiograms, 24 hour holter monitors and tilt table testing. NICL is staffed with Registered Nurses experienced in Cardiology, Echocardiographers and Cardiology Technicians.
Cardiac Catheterization Lab
The Cardiac Catheterization Lab performs more than 1,200 cardiac
catheterizations each year at Community Medical Center. The laboratory
is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and patients can be
scheduled the same day of the physician's request, minimizing length
of stay.
Elective Angioplasty
An angioplasty is a procedure in which a small balloon is inserted
to open a blocked artery to restore blood flow to the heart. Elective
angioplasty procedures are now available at Community Medical Center
through participation in the Atlantic
C-Port Elective Angioplasty research study in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University
School of Medicine.
Cardiac Rehabilitation
The Cardiac Rehabilitation outpatient program combines the latest concepts of cardiovascular rehabilitation, optimizing the patient’s physical, mental, and social abilities. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has three phases.
Phase I occurs while a patient is still in the hospital recovering from a coronary event. The rehab in the early days is more educational then physical. During Phase II, patients learn how to live with the heart ailment. The emphasis is on conditioning the heart by strengthening it through exercise. Patients participate in a comprehensive 12-week exercise and rehabilitation program under the direct supervision of an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and dieticians. Phase III is the maintenance portion of the program. Graduates of the Phase II program may elect to participate in a self monitored, maintenance program.
