One of the most important aspects of ongoing cancer therapy is a systematic patient followup program, providing a lifetime of medical observation. The Oncology Data Center, also known as the Tumor Registry, provides essential information to the New Jersey Department of Health as mandated by the state of New Jersey as well as the National Cancer Data Base.
J. Phillip Citta Cancer Center physicians utilize data obtained from the registry to analyze the success of various treatment programs. In addition, data is provided for use in cancer research, medical education, funding applications and medical publications. Information obtained also aids in the evaluation of the quality of patient care as required by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. All information obtained by the registry is completely confidential.
