Ocean County's Only Inpatient Hospice Unit Celebrates First Anniversary
TOMS RIVER, NJ – Pictured from left to right, at the recent first anniversary celebration of the Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center Inpatient Unit at Community Medical Center, are Louise Antalosky, Certified Home Health Aide, Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center; Lorraine Sciara, Executive Director and Vice President of Hospice and Related Services, Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center; Alice Seccafico, Chaplain, Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center; Deborah Jack, RN, Director, Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center Inpatient Unit; and Mildy Walton, RN, Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center. “For more than 20 years Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Community Medical Center has been providing services to Ocean County residents who are coping with advanced illness,” says Deborah Jack, RN, Director of the Inpatient Unit. “In 2006, we expanded the program with the introduction of Ocean County’s first, and only, inpatient hospice unit.” The Unit, located in a designated area at Community Medical Center, offers patients and families compassionate care in private rooms with a 24-hour visiting policy and family relaxation lounge.
