Hospice and Palliative Care Center Offers End of Life Seminar

These members of the Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative
Care Center Team recently presented a Care at the End
of Life Seminar to health care professionals at Monmouth
Medical Center.
More than 50 individuals from the nursing, case management,
social work, and patient satisfaction departments attended
this pertinent lecture that included discussion in the areas
of pain and symptom management, grief and loss, and the importance
of communication between clinicians and patients and families.
“The goal of the Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative
Care Center is to provide patients and families with the
emotional, spiritual, and physical support needed when coping
with an advanced illness,” explains Roesler. “One
way we can ensure this goal is being met, is to provide educational
opportunities to those who encounter individuals at the end
stage of life.”
Established in 1981, the Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative
Care Center, located at 95 Old Short Hills Road in West Orange,
provides comprehensive care for patients with advanced illness,
and their families, throughout ten counties in the State
of New Jersey. The Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative
Care Center supports inpatient units at Monmouth Medical
Center in Long Branch, and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
in Newark, NJ, as well as Van Dyke Hospice at Community Medical
Center in Toms River. It also provides home care and
services for individuals in long-term care and assisted living
facilities
The Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, which
serves infants, children, adults and the elderly, honors the
unique choices and values of patients and their families and
offers full access to the broad array of services provided
