July 11, 2007 -- A Kimball Medical Center home care program is offering
housebound patients in Manchester convenient access to a host of
services — including wound care and diabetes education.
Kimball advanced practice nurse Barb Bonner, APRN-BC, C.D.E., W.C.C.,
a certified wound care specialist and diabetes educator, will be
available for house calls on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings
from 8 to 11 a.m. beginning Monday, August 6. The program is offered
to Manchester residents who are housebound as defined by federal
Medicare/Medicaid guidelines. In addition to treating myriad chronic
conditions and illnesses as a physician would, Bonner brings special
training in diabetes and wound care, and offers blood-drawing services
as well.
“As a wound care specialist, Barb can diagnose and treat
any skin condition or wound, and as a certified diabetes educator,
she can help patients with their diabetes management,” says
Kimball Medical Center executive director Joe Hicks, who notes that
the service is further testament to Kimball’s mission to find
new and innovative ways to serve the community.
Patients with Medicare, Medicaid and most major insurance plans
will be accepted. To schedule an appointment for a house call, or
for questions regarding eligibility or insurance coverage, all the
