LAKEWOOD, NJ, SEPTEMBER 26, 2008 – On Tuesday, September 23, New Jersey’s Commissioner of Health and Senior Services Heather Howard visited Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood where she toured the hospital, met with staff, and had the opportunity to meet a local Howell resident and soldier injured in Afghanistan.
Commissioner Howard spent the morning at the hospital, meeting with members of senior management who outlined the health needs of the community. After the meeting, the Commissioner was taken on a tour of Kimball’s Emergency Department, the Psychiatric Emergency Screening Service (PESS) unit and took some time to visit with 1st Lt. Brian Brennan, injured earlier this year by an improvised explosive device (IED) while serving in Afghanistan.
Joe Hicks, executive director of Kimball Medical Center, said, “We are pleased Commissioner Howard took the time to visit our hospital and meet with our staff. Kimball Medical Center prides itself on providing the highest quality medical care to the patients we serve and we were glad the Commissioner had the opportunity to see first hand our facility and our dedication to excellence.”
