MARCH 17, 2008 — Millions of Americans have experienced success with bariatric surgery. If you’ve had weight loss surgery, or are currently anticipating or planning to have it, you should know that your overall success could be enhanced with support! The Ocean County Weight Loss Surgery Support Group is a peer-to-peer support group that offers members, their supportive family and friends, insight, information and emotional support to help you succeed!
Bariatric surgery is not a quick fix, but a means to make it physically easier for individuals to adjust their eating and lifestyle habits. It’s an ongoing journey toward weight loss through a combination of physical, behavioral and emotional changes – and sometimes it may seem like an uphill battle! Talking to other people who share your wellness goals, understand the process and have been through it themselves is key to long-term success!
Find support and education, celebrate achievements and share common experiences with others who have achieved success after weight loss surgery!
Group members have had their surgeries performed by various surgeons at different hospitals, and are not affiliated with any specific WLS surgeon or hospital.
The group meets on the third Monday of each month at Kimball Medical Center’s Center for Healthy Living located at 198 Prospect Street in Lakewood. The next meeting will take place on Monday, April 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. Pre-registration is not required.
