 LAKEWOOD, NJ -- Lewis Wetstein, MD, Thoracic Surgeon and Chairman of Surgery at Kimball Medical Center as well as secretary treasurer of the medical staff, was recently appointed to key positions for two separate healthcare organizations in New Jersey.
Dr. Wetstein was elected to a one-year term as President of the New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.The New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Surgeons consists of surgeons "dedicated to advancing the highest standards of excellence in patient care, through the education of health professionals and the public, and by supporting research and surgical training programs in the state." The organization advocates at both the state and national levels on behalf of surgeons and their patients.
Dr. Wettings also selected as the President of the Society of Surgeons of New Jersey, another highly noted healthcare association in New Jersey with over 600 members.
Interlaken resident Lewis Wetstein, MD, received his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain and completed his internship at Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY. Dr. Wetstein did his residency in General and Cardio Thoracic Surgery at Downstate Medical/Kings County Hospital Center. He then completed a fellowship in Investigative Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, PA.
A board-certified surgeon, Dr. Wetstein has a medical practice in Freehold, NJ. He is also on the medical staff and Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Finally, Dr. Wetstein is the State Air Surgeon for New Jersey Air National Guard and is presently in his 34th year of active reserve/guard duty.
