LAKEWOOD, NJ -- Small companies and corporations realize that their employees are their best asset. That is why over 400 local businesses utilize the Corporate Care Program at Kimball Medical Center to provide well-care education, physicals and worker’s injury and compensation care for their employees.
“Corporate Care starts at the very beginning of the employment process by offering post-offer and pre-employment functional ability screenings, which help guarantee an individual’s suitability to perform a specific job,” says Alex Rotsettis, Director of the Kimball Institute Corporate Care Program. “We work with each company to provide specific services to meet their individual needs.”
As each new employee is offered a position, Corporate Care provides pre-employment physicals, annual physicals, Department of Transportation physicals, and a number of health screenings including diabetes, bone density, blood pressure, prostate, colon skin and oral cancer screenings. Random drug and alcohol testing and inoculations and vaccinations can also be included in the program.
A unique and beneficial aspect of Kimball’s Corporate Care program is the actual proximity of its programs and services. Corporate Care and the Institute for Rehabilitation Services are housed in the same suite on the Kimball Campus, located at 500 River Avenue in Lakewood. This proximity allows the medical directors, therapists, workers' compensation specialists and laboratory services to work cohesively and simultaneously, which ultimately results in a more efficient process and enables employees to recover from their injuries safely and quickly.
The Corporate Care program is overseen by a highly-qualified medical director, Tanisha K. Taylor, MD, MPH. Dr. Taylor is board-certified in both occupational and environmental medicine, and internal medicine. Dr. Taylor oversees the Corporate Care program, and participates and manages both well care and workers’ compensation injury care.
Dr. Taylor earned her medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York and received a Masters in Public Health Degree from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. In addition, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital and a fellowship in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Yale University.
Dr. Taylor works on-site with physical and occupational therapists to continually monitor patient’s progress and make modifications to treatment and care plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
“Preventing injuries is far better than treating them,” Rotsettis states. “However, we do have services through Corporate Care to handle those situations as well.” The Corporate Care program can handle on-the-job injuries during regular office hours which are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. After-hours injuries and emergencies are treated in Kimball Medical Center’s Emergency Department.
In addition, on-site laboratory services, referrals to medical specialists, physical and occupational therapy, professional case management, and tracking and trending of injuries are all available through the Corporate Care program.
“Our program has been successful in working with local employers for more than 15 years,” explains Rotsettis. “We provide comprehensive care for each and every employee. That’s our goal.”
The Corporate Care Program is hosting an Open House on Thursday, March 12 from 2 to 3 pm for local businesses and community members. During the Open House, participants will be able to tour the facilities, meet the staff, watch a body mechanics demonstration and participate in several health screenings including glucose, blood pressure and balance testing. The Open House will be held in the Corporate Care Department located at the Kimball Institute at 500 River Avenue in Lakewood. Pre-registration is requested by calling 1-888-724-7123.
