The Antenatal Testing Center provides parents-to-be
with the latest in medical technology and services to meet
their perinatal needs. It is an integrated, comprehensive
facility that brings together a full spectrum of antenatal
testing and genetic counseling services.
- High-resolution ultrasound testing to provide a detailed
look at fetal anatomy, fetal growth and overall fetal
well-being.
- Amniocentesis for women who already have a child
with a birth defect, those with a family history of birth
defects and those who will be over age 35 at the time
of delivery.
- Non-stress testing for fetal monitoring.
- Cardiac and Doppler scanning of the fetal heart.
- Urodynamic testing to identify certain bladder
disorders.
- Genetic counseling for individuals who are “at
risk” or have had a child with a birth defect or
hereditary disease to receive information and evaluation.

M. Wallace, M.D., FACOG
Maternal/Fetal Medicine
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
David M. Wallace, M.D., has been chairman of Obstetrics
and Gynecology since 1994. Board certified in obstetrics
and gynecology with subspecialty training in maternal-fetal
medicine, he has served over the years in several other
capacities while at Monmouth, including director of the
Antenatal Testing Center and associate director of Maternal-Fetal
Medicine.
Dr. Wallace earned his medical degree from MCP
Hahnemann University School of Medicine, Philadelphia,
before completing a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine
at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, and his residency
at Monmouth Medical Center.
Dr. Wallace is a fellow of the
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and
a member of the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, American
Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, New Jersey Obstetrics/Gynecology
Society and the Medical Society of New Jersey.
He is a faculty
member and contributor to "Cutting Edge," a
nationally recognized educational seminar for physicians
sponsored biannually by Monmouth Medical Center during
the 1990s.
In 2000, Dr. Wallace was named to the New Jersey
Board of Medical Examiners by Gov. Christine Todd Whitman.
He is among 13 physicians on the 21-member licensing and
regulatory body.
He currently is president of the Monmouth's
Medical and Dental Staff, and serves on the boards of trustees
for the hospital and Monmouth Medical Center Foundation,
its fund-raising arm.
Nisha Malik, M.D.
Nisha Malik, M.D., joined Monmouth Medical Center in 1996
after serving as an attending physician for three years
at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
(UMDNJ), Newark.
She holds a medical degree from the Medical College of
Wisconsin and completed her residency at UMDNJ, where she
then served as a research fellow of maternal-fetal medicine.
Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology with subspecialty
eligibility in maternal-fetal medicine, Dr. Malik is a
member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
and the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Her research
work has been published in several professional journals,
including “Clinical Consultations in Obstetrics and
Gynecology.”
David Gonzalez, M.D.
Section Chief, Maternal/Fetal Medicine
David Gonzalez, M.D., joined Monmouth Medical Center in
1997 after spending two years as an attending physician
at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ),
Newark.
He earned his medical degree from Temple University Medical
School, Philadelphia, before completing his residency at
UMDNJ, where he then served as a research fellow of maternal-fetal
medicine.
Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology with subspecialty
eligibility in maternal-fetal medicine, Dr. Gonzalez is
a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
and the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. His research
work has been published in several professional journals,
including “Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics and
Gynecology.”
