Over
the past five decades, Monmouth has maintained its leadership position
as the region’s largest obstetrical and gynecological center
by offering a wide range of services for women throughout their
lifecycle.
With more than 4,000 births annually, Monmouth Medical Center
delivers the most babies of any hospital in Monmouth and Ocean
counties, and ranks fourth in New Jersey.
The vast majority of the nearly 50
obstetricians/gynecologists who serve as attending physicians
on Monmouth’s medical staff are board certified or eligible
in the discipline. Many also hold additional certification in
such subspecialties as maternal-fetal medicine (perinatology),
reproductive endocrinology and infertility, uro-gynecology and
gynecologic oncology.
Because Monmouth is one of the state’s largest community
teaching hospitals, these physicians are members of a highly regarded
teaching faculty that plays an integral role in the academic and
clinical education of eight physicians-in-training in the obstetrics
and residency
program, as well as medical students from MCP Hahnemann University
School of Medicine, Philadelphia, and St. George’s University
School of Medicine, Grenada.
Our obstetricians/gynecologists are supported by a staff of nearly
70 nurses and other professionals who are specially trained in
women’s health care. This site is designed to provide you
with information on the wealth of inpatient and outpatient services
provided by Monmouth Medical Center’s Department of Obstetrics
and Gynecology and through related programs. One of our newest
programs, the Monmouth Medical
Center Cord Blood Banking Program, now extends our legacy of
childbirth support into the area of placental and cord blood stem
cell banking.
