The Department of Pediatrics provides comprehensive diagnostic, evaluation and treatment services for children – from newborns to 18 year olds. Offering a complete range of medical subspecialties, the Department is divided into 29 subspecialty sections.
The Department is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care and our staff shares the philosophy of “tri-centric care” – care that creates communication and information sharing between the physician, parent and child. This philosophy gives parents the information and education that they need to better understand and cope with their child’s long-term illness and do their part to contribute to better care and outcomes.
In support of our tri-centric approach to care, we were the first hospital in central New Jersey to introduce a Brazelton Touchpoints Center, a Children’s Hospital Boston-based training program that’s based on decades of research in child development, years of clinical experience, and on the power of building relationships between providers and family members.
The clinical strengths of the Department are enhanced by a strong commitment to research and training and our role as an academic medical center means that our physicians care for children using the most up-to-date diagnostic tools and treatments available.
Our 17-bed inpatient unit treats children with mild, moderate and severe illness in a way that is superior to the care available at other hospitals. Pediatricians in our community and the surrounding area count on our staff to diagnose and treat their patients. When a patient is referred to us by another pediatrician, we ensure continuity of care by keeping open lines of communication with that physician and informing them of their patient’s diagnosis and treatment.
