Monmouth Medical Center has Monmouth County's most active renal
services program for patients needing kidney treatment. In addition
to dialysis treatment offered through The Gloria York Renal Center — the
hospital's eight-bed inpatient dialysis unit — patients receive
a full range of support services, including nutritional and lifestyle
counseling, social work services and home training.
In 1999, Long Branch resident Gloria York — who operated
her own dance and fitness studio for more than 30 years in the city
and who received outpatient dialysis treatment at Monmouth for years
before it was moved to an off-site location — earmarked a
$1 million gift for renal services and The Jacqueline M. Wilentz
Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth. In recognition of her generosity,
Monmouth dedicated the inpatient dialysis unit in her honor. In
2000, she donated $73,800 to fund the purchase of six new state-of-the-art
dialysis machines.

Gloria York, the longtime Long Branch resident who established
a $1 million charitable remainder trust for Monmouth Medical Center,
supported patient care at Monmouth by funding the purchase of new,
highly specialized equipment for the hospital's dialysis unit. She
is shown here, seated at right, with, also seated, Maureen Bowe,
clinical director of critical care and renal services at Monmouth,
and, standing from left, Bridget Murphy, director of Monmouth Medical
Center Foundation, Frank J. Vozos, M.D., FACS, executive director
of Monmouth Medical Center, and Monmouth nephrologist Noel T. Nivera,
M.D.
