The Medical Center provides Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation services for patients who have experienced heart attack, open-heart surgery, heart or lung transplantation, or coronary angioplasty. Because research has shown that early activity following these events can help shorten a patient's hospital stay, the division's exercise specialists visit the patient's bedside to help him exercise to achieve full mobility. A fully equipped exercise gymnasium, complete with state-of-the-art exercise machines, is also available at the Medical Center. In addition to hospital assistance, staff members assess and advise patients about individualized home exercise programs.
