New Jersey's largest hospital-based dental program combines state-of-the-art
technology with general and specialty services such as endodontics,
periodontics, orthodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, oral
pathology, pediatric dentistry, dental care for the medically compromised
and operating room general anesthesia dentistry for the handicapped
and disabled. Annually, the department sees 16,000 patients in
its outpatient facility, 10,000 visits are seen by the General
Practice Residents and 6,000 by the Attending Dentists. Annually,
the dental residents are supervised by the attendings in 500 inpatient
consultations, two-thirds of which interface with cardiac surgery,
oncology, organ transplants, psychiatry, etc. With 42 active attending
dentists, nine dental residents and more than one dozen additional
dental personnel, the department offers its patients total dental
health and emergency dental care.
