The Center for Geriatric Health at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is a widely recognized program designed to provide assessment and primary health care for adults 65 and over. Total health care on an outpatient basis enables the patient to live independently at home and to enhance his or her quality of life.
The uniqueness of the program lies in its multidisciplinary approach to providing medical care for seniors. A team of specially-trained geriatricians provides primary care to patients, and if necessary, will make referrals to sub-specialty physicians located on-site at the medical center.
The Center for Geriatric Health Care provides treatment and services that help seniors live longer, healthier lives. Among them are:
- Physicians on-call 24 hours a day
- Geriatric assessment and primary care
- Specialty services including ophthalmology, podiatry, urology, healthy mind (dementia) program, cardiology, and kidney disease
- House calls for the home-bound
- Geriatric inpatient unit
- Adult Day Health Care Center
- Free enrollment in the Senior Health Membership Program for people ages 50 and older
- Transportation assistance for medical appointments at the Center for Geriatric Health Care
