Since 2003, The Beth’s cardiac
surgeons have been performing robotic surgery using the da
Vinci® S Surgical System as an alternative
for patients requiring certain open-heart procedures, including
mitral valve repair and atrial defect repair. As a minimally
invasive alternative to traditional open-heart surgeries,
robotic surgery allows surgeons to operate through fingertip-size
incisions without having to open the patient’s chest.
As a result, patients spend less time in the hospital,
experience dramatically less pain and recover more quickly.
