“Born at the Beth” Wall Commemorates Loved Ones Born at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Raises Money for Premature and Ill Newborns

“Born at the Beth” Wall Commemorates Loved Ones Born at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center

Newark, NJ—West Orange resident Ruth Messing searched for a unique gift for a cousin turning 60, as well as a longtime friend with an upcoming birthday. As many people are, she was unsure what to give to someone who deserves a unique and special recognition. Then she found the perfect gift: she had their names inscribed on Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s (NBIMC) Wall of Recognition, a program that beautifully commemorates those Born at The Beth.

“It makes a wonderful and unusual gift,” says Mrs. Messing, who was also born at The Beth. “We are all so proud to be Born at The Beth. Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is always in your heart. It’s a lovely way to commemorate the event and the birth certificate they receive is beautifully designed with a raised seal.”

Mrs. Messing planned a special tour of the medical center for her friend, Bobbi Raff Scheider, to show the place on the wall that bears her name. The Wall of Recognition is displayed on the 2nd floor, Osborne Terrace Bridge, adjacent to the Wall of History.

The Born at the Beth Wall of Recognition

The Born at the Beth Wall of Recognition is a public display that celebrates a birth at The Beth, honors those who were born there in the past, and adds to Medical Center’s unfolding recorded history. Any family member, friend, or loved one may place a name on the Wall of Recognition, and recipients receive a special “birth certificate” to acknowledge the gift.

A place on the Wall of Recognition is perfect for:

·        Those who grew up in greater Newark. Remembering The Beth as one’s birthplace, and the hospital’s pivotal role in the community as a beacon of warmth, healing and social service, is a special part of those early memories.

·        Today’s parents. Born at The Beth brings to mind the Medical Center’s Mother-Infant Pavilion where the celebration of new life begins for nearly 4,000 babies each year.  The Beth is a leader in managing high-risk pregnancies as well as in providing expert intensive care for mothers and newborns.

All Proceeds Benefit the NICU
