Newark, NJ—Newark Beth Israel Medical
Center’s Renal and Pancreas Transplant Division is pleased
to present a Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Symposium for Patients
and Families. The purpose of this symposium is to provide continuing
education and information to patients and families about transplantation.
The program will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 6:30-8:30
pm at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s
Parsonnett - Danzis Auditorium. The transplant team welcomes
and encourages dialysis patients and their family members, in
addition to dialysis center staff, to attend this educational
program to learn more about the option of transplantation.
This program is created specifically to address questions that
patients and families may have regarding the option of transplantation
and to discuss recent advances made in the field. The Renal and
Pancreas Transplant Division invites all interested individuals
to attend this informal education seminar to learn more about current
trends in the field including advances in surgery and transplant
medicines. Separate sessions in English and Spanish will be presented
during this time.
About the Renal and Pancreas Transplant Division
The integrated Renal and Pancreas Transplant Division, located
at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Saint Barnabas Medical
Center and, is one of the world's most progressive transplant programs.
This nationally respected team of nephrologists and surgeons, working
closely with experienced registered nurses, social workers and
support staff, offers an increasing number of transplant opportunities
for people and hope to many whose medical conditions previously
prevented transplantation as an option.
Transplant recipients are experiencing an improved quality of
life, independent of dialysis and its restrictions, through living
or deceased donor donation, simultaneous pancreas-kidney, pancreas-after-kidney
transplant and pediatric kidney transplantation programs that consistently
achieve outstanding success rates.
Newark Beth was recently featured in the New Jersey Star Ledger for
participating in a ground-breaking six-way transplant chain involving
six living donors and six recipients, one of the two largest transplant
chains ever preformed in the United States.
