Free Dementia Caregiver Program in Scotch Plains

Scotch Plains, NJ --  On Thursday, August 20 at 5:30 p.m., Ashbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotch Plains, in collaboration with the Greater New Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, will host “Communicaton: The Key to Understanding Behavior.”

Registration is required.  Please RSVP to Marcy Schmidt at 908-889-2585 by Monday, 8/17.

Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias can gradually diminish a person’s ability to communicate.  Not only do they have more difficulty expressing thoughts and emotions, persons with dementia may also have more trouble understanding others.  This session will help caregivers identify potential reasons for these misunderstood behaviors.  It will also provide communication techniques in response to repetitive actions, aggressive behaviors, recognition difficulties and anxious or agitated feelings.

Ashbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, an affiliate of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, is located at 1610 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains.
