Kearny, NJ -- On Thursday, August 20, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Kensington Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, an affiliate of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System located at 94 Stevens Road in Toms River, will host a free Bruit* Stroke Screen.
Refreshments will be served. Registration is required. Please RSVP to 1-888-724-7123 (select prompt #1) no later than 8/17.
*A carotid bruit (brue-ee) is an abnormal, harsh sound that is heard by placing a stethoscope over an artery in the neck. The presence of this sound can indicate the build up of cholesterol and fats on the artery wall (atherosclerosis) which can put you at a higher risk for stroke. If this sound is heard during the screening at Kensington Manor, you will be referred to your primary care physician for follow up.
