Wendy Warren, M.D., perinatologist with the Division
of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Saint Barnabas Medical
Center, was recently honored by Healthy Mothers/Healthy
Babies of Essex. Dr. Warren was given their Presidential
Award for outstanding commitment to maternal/child health
issues on March 18, 2005. She has a nine-year association
of service with the organization and was commended for
her work to prevent prematurity.

Healthy Mothers/ Healthy Babies of Essex is a non-profit
organization that utilizes outreach workers to encourage
women to seek prenatal care for themselves and pediatric
care for their children. This Coalition is an affiliate
of the Northern New Jersey Maternal/Child Health Consortium
whose mission is to improve access to quality and risk
appropriate health services for women and children through
advocacy, program development, professional and community
education. Dr. Warren’s research has guided the
Northern Consortium’s efforts to reduce low birth
weight and infant mortality.
Dr. Warren, an Associate Director with the Division,
joined the team in 1999. After receiving an M.D. degree
from Cornell University Medical College, she completed
a fellowship in maternal/ fetal medicine at Columbia
University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Dr.
Warren was previously a staff perinatologist with St.
Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson.
The perinatologists of the Division of Maternal-Fetal
Medicine are experts in the field of perinatal medicine
and the treatment of women who anticipate or are experiencing
a high-risk pregnancy.
