About Saint Barnabas Medical Center
Saint Barnabas is New Jersey’s oldest and largest nonprofit,
nonsectarian hospital, where more patients are treated annually
than at any other facility in New Jersey. Saint Barnabas blends
the essential elements of community service with advanced medical
and surgical specialties to care for patients throughout the state.

Founded in 1865, the institution cares for more than 40,000
inpatients, over 60,000 Emergency Department patients, and provides
treatment for over 300,000 outpatient visits annually.
The Saint Barnabas Health Care System includes nine hospitals
and nine nursing home facilities and is a major teaching affiliate
of the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine of the City University of New
York. Saint Barnabas Medical Center is accredited by both the Joint
Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO);
and sponsors graduate medical education programs approved by The
Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
In addition to the prestigious Department of Obstetrics Gynecology,
its nationally recognized facilities include the Saint Barnabas
Burn Center, the only certified burn facility in New Jersey; the
Renal Transplant Centers, which perform more transplants any other
facility in the region; and The HEART HOSPITAL of New Jersey, a
world-class cardiac surgery program.
Saint Barnabas Medical Center is in a community setting in Livingston
neighboring on West Orange and Short Hills, New Jersey. There is
adequate availability of affordable housing within easy commuting
distance (30 miles) to Manhattan. Philadelphia is one and a half
hours away and Washington, D.C., is four hours away.
