About the Residency Program of Obstetrics
and Gynecology
The Department of Ob/Gyn offers a fully accredited
four-year Residency Program with full-time and voluntary teaching
staff. It is academically oriented and includes regularly scheduled
conferences, guest lecture series, various post-graduate courses,
formal and informal journal clubs, preparation of the biannual
resident journal and published grand rounds.
The residency program provides high volume of general Ob/Gyn practiced
with local generalists and sub-specialists on staff. There are
rotations through the subspecialty programs during the four years.
Each resident completes one major research project, suitable for
publication during his/her tenure. This project is presented in
the last year of training at the annual Resident Research Day.
The Program appoints five residents at each of the four levels
of post-graduate training. Many residents stay locally to practice
general Ob/Gyn and a good percentage go onto fellowships. Most
are accepted by their first choice program.
The program started in 1970 and has been fully accredited since
by ACGME. John Kindzierski, MD is the Residency Program Director
and Richard Miller, MD is the Chairman of the Department.
