Twenty voluntary beds are available for patients having acute psychiatric episodes, needing 24-hour nursing care.
The program is staffed with a team of behavioral health professionals, which include:
- A Medical Director
- Advanced Practice Nurses
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers

- Bachelors Prepared Mental Health Associates
Our staff stay in close communication with referring physicians and other health professionals from the time the patient is admitted until discharge.

Clara Maass is committed to quality patient care and will make every effort to assure you or a family member of a smooth transition into the appropriate level of care. From evaluation and assessment to discharge and follow-up, patients receive individualized treatment.

Referrals and admissions to the Clara Maass Inpatient Unit may be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by calling the Saint Barnabas Behavioral Health Network Access Center at 1-800-300-0628.
- Anyone who has attempted or threatened suicide.
- Anyone who is difficult to manage in a residential or home setting.
- Anyone who has a stressor which precipitates an increase in acute psychiatric symptoms.
- Anyone with a history of poor medication compliance.
- For anyone who engages in dangerous or unsafe behaviors (i.e. substance abuse)
