Inpatient Treatment

Twenty voluntary beds are available for patients having acute psychiatric episodes, needing 24-hour nursing care.

Our Treatment Team

The program is staffed with a team of behavioral health professionals, which include:

Our staff stay in close communication with referring physicians and other health professionals from the time the patient is admitted until discharge.

How to Access Services

Referrals and admissions to the Clara Maass Inpatient Unit may be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by calling the Saint Barnabas Behavioral Health Network Access Center at  1-800-300-0628.

Indicators for Treatment

  • Anyone who has attempted or threatened suicide.
  • Anyone who is difficult to manage in a residential or home setting.
  • Anyone who has a stressor which precipitates an increase in acute psychiatric symptoms.
  • Anyone with a history of poor medication compliance.
  • For anyone who engages in dangerous or unsafe behaviors (i.e. substance abuse)
