About Our Staff Our Center operates under the direction of a physician who is fellowship-trained and board-certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM). The additional members of our medical staff specialize in neurology, pulmonology and pediatrics and are also board certified in sleep medicine. Our technicians perform the overnight studies and provide assistance in mask fitting and desensitization. Consultation with specialists in pulmonary medicine, neurology, otolaryngology (ENT), and psychiatry/psychology also can be arranged. Physicians on our staff include:
Dr. Nadkarni, a board-certified physician in neurology, clinical neurophysiology and sleep medicine, leads the physician team at The Kazmir Center for Sleep Disorders and Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Under her direction, The Kazmir Center for Sleep Disorders received accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). She has extensive training and experience in sleep medicine and neurology -- often serving as a lecturer and educator in these areas of expertise. She is an active researcher, currently leading a study regarding Restless Leg Syndrome. Dr. Nadkarni completed residency training in neurology at the University of Dentistry and Medicine of New Jersey, performed an epilepsy fellowship at New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center, and completed a post-graduate course in sleep medicine at Stanford School of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Nadkarni is a fellow in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and serves on New Jersey Sleep Society and the Professional Advisory Board of the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey. She has been nominated as Top Physicians in America by Consumer Research Council of America for year 2005 and 2006. She has co-authored articles that have appeared in prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals such as Neurology and The Journal of Clinical Neurophysiology.
Dr. Cohen, a board-certified physician in pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine, has been treating children with sleep disorders for almost 20 years and is considered an expert in infant apnea. He will treat both adults and children with sleep disorders and also specialize in pediatric pulmonary medicine at the Pediatric Specialty Center, located at the Ambulatory Care Center. Dr. Cohen received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. He performed his residency in Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron, Ohio, and completed a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at the Children's Hospital of Buffalo, New York. He received his training in Sleep Medicine at the School of Sleep Medicine in Palo Alto, CA. Dr. Cohen has had faculty appointments at Ohio State University School of Medicine; John A. Burns School of Medicine, Hawaii; Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine; Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Ohio; and Des Moines University, Ohio. [ top ] |
