Nursing, Department Of (973) 322-5204 Each nursing unit is staffed 24 hours a day with professional registered nurses who assess individual patient needs and plan nursing care from admission to discharge. Licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants also provide skilled nursing care and help make hospitalization as comfortable as possible. All nurses serve as patient advocates and engage in collaborative practice with physicians and members of many other health care disciplines. Nurse specialists with advanced education are available to provide additional health education and counseling to patients and their families.
