Pediatric Specialty Center of Saint Barnabas The Pediatric Specialty Center of Saint Barnabas, located at Located at Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center (200 South Orange Avenue, Livingston, N.J. 07039), is the only location in the state with such a wealth of outstanding pediatric specialties, advanced technologies, and scope of programs and services in an outpatient setting. Developmental Pediatrics The Pediatric Developmental Center of Saint Barnabas Medical Center, located at the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center, provides medically diagnostic services for infants, children and adolescents with developmental problems or learning delays. Dr. Morse along with a team of specially trained health care providers, including neuropsychologists, speech and language pathologists, audiologists, and physical and occupational therapists, will help to identify problems and map out long-term treatment plans. As a neurologist, Dr. Morse will also be able to address broader neurological issues which will lead to a thorough approach to every child.
Dr. Morse is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed her general pediatric training at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. She then went on to complete a residency in pediatric and adult neurology at Tufts New England Medical Center/Floating Hospital for Children in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition, she completed a pediatric-epilepsy fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center/Floating Hospital for Children. Before joining the staff at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Dr. Morse practiced medicine in the Division of Pediatric Neurology at Tufts New England Medical Center/Floating Hospital for Children. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society, the Child Neurology Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Saint Barnabas Medical Center specializes in the treatment of diabetes, thyroid conditions and hormone deficiencies in infants, children and adolescents, with the use of insulin pump therapy in all children with diabetes. Dr. Newmark has completed his medical school training, pediatric residency, and pediatric endocrinology fellowship at Washington University, Saint Louis Children's Hospital. He has vast experience in the treatment of infants, children and adolescents, with diabetes mellitus, growth disorders, thyroid abnormalities, obesity, and other endocrine disorders. Dr. Newmark has recently completed a study evaluating the benefits of utilizing postprandial blood sugars with the use of the continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS sensor) in children with diabetes. Pediatric Psychiatry The Division of Pediatric Psychiatry at Saint Barnabas Medical Center provides parents and families the clinical expertise of a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist trained to evaluate, diagnose and treat children and adolescents dealing with emotional difficulties, learning and behavior problems and mental disorders. The Child Psychiatrist works in tandem with school-based Child Study Teams and consults with each child’s family physician to develop an individualized comprehensive treatment plan.
Dr. Faber completed a fellowship in Child Psychiatry/Sleep Disorders at UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson and performed his residency in general psychiatry at Yale Medical School Affiliates. He attended medical school at Ross University. He received a masters in Health Education and a bachelor of science degree, suma cum laude, from the University of Maryland. He was included in the 2003 “Top Doctors” list featured in New Jersey Monthly magazine and was named to the 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 Castle Connolly Guide to America’s Top Doctors. He was also named Health Professional of the Year for 2001 by The New Jersey Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community (COSAC). Pediatric Pulmonology The Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine of Saint Barnabas Medical Center, located at the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center, provides parents and families the clinical expertise of child and adolescent pulmonologists and sleep specialists trained to evaluate, diagnose and treat children and adolescents dealing with Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, Tracheostomy, and Sleep Disorders such as apnea, snoring, and insomnia.
Dr. Bisberg, a graduate of Cornell University Medical School and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at UMDNJ, has been caring for asthma and Cystic Fibrosis patients for more than 25 years. Prior to becoming Chief of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at Saint Barnabas in 2002, she was Director of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center where she also served as Chairperson of the Pediatric Asthma Committee and Clinical Project manager for the Inner City Asthma Intervention Program. Dr Bisberg’s dedication to her patients has prompted her participation in many community outreach programs as well as state-wide endeavors, including: the Newark Pediatric Asthma Coalition, the Pediatric/Adult Asthma Coalition of New Jersey, Chairperson of the Pediatric Pulmonology Committee and pediatric representative to the Region II Asthma Summit for the New Jersey Thoracic Society. She also serves as the Director of the Knights of Pythias Cystic Fibrosis Center, an affiliate center of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Barry A. Cohen, M.D., a board-certified physician in pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine, has been treating children with sleep disorders for almost 20 years and is considered an expert in infant apnea. He specializes in pediatric pulmonary medicine along with Dorothy S. Bisberg, M.D., at the Pediatric Specialty Center, located at the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center, and also treats both adults and children with sleep disorders at The Kazmir Center for Sleep Disorders at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Dr. Cohen received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. He performed his residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron, Ohio, and completed a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, New York. He received his training in Sleep Medicine at the School of Sleep Medicine in Palo Alto, CA. Dr. Cohen has had faculty appointments at Ohio State University School of Medicine; John A. Burns School of Medicine, Hawaii; Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine; Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Ohio; and Des Moines University, Ohio. Pediatric Rheumatology The Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at Saint Barnabas Medical Center provides treatment for Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Lyme disease, Sarcoidosis, Vasculitis, Fibromyalgia, and other rheumatologic disorders. Upcoming plans include the creation of a Lyme Disease Center that will provide a comprehensive, clinical academic approach to the treatment of children with Lyme disease.
Dr. Chalom -- one of three board-certified pediatric rheumatologists in the state of New Jersey - provides comprehensive care for infants, children and adolescents with rheumatologic disorders. She received her medical degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed her training in pediatrics and pediatric rheumatology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Chalom is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Chalom also serves on the executive board of the Arthritis Foundation of New Jersey. As Chairperson of the Foundation’s Juvenile Arthritis Committee, she helped initiate a summer camp for children with rheumatic disorders. Dr. Chalom has been honored for her work in Pediatric Rheumatology by the American Medical Association and the Arthritis Association of New Jersey. She has written numerous articles on rheumatologic disorders and their treatments, as well as chapters in pediatric textbooks on topics such as Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus and Lyme disease. Along with an extremely busy practice, Dr. Chalom has also served as the principal investigator for various clinical trails. Pediatric Travel and Adoption Medicine The Department of Pediatrics exclusively offers health protection for children who will be exposed to travel risks. Located at the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center, The Division of Pediatric Travel and Adoption Medicine provides preventive counseling, testing and interventions for parents and families based on their travel destination or country of origin. Preventative medications and vaccinations can be administered based on the area of international travel. Testing and consultation is provided for families with internationally adopted children.
Dr. Shah is a board-certified physician in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. She specializes in the treatment of a variety of infectious illnesses. She received her medical degree from BJ Medical College in India and moved to the U.S. to complete her residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Montefiore, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, N.Y. She completed her fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Children’s Hospital of Montefiore, N.Y. Before joining the staff at Saint Barnabas, she held a faculty appointment as the Director of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Clinic at the Children’s Hospital of Montefiore, while continuing her research in HIV resistance patterns. She is a member of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society of America.
