Dr. Bonamo Named Executive Director of
He is also a former Vice President of the Medical Staff, immediate past-President of the Saint Barnabas MetroWest Independent Physicians Association and former Clinical Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He currently serves as Chairperson of the SBHCS Physician Partnership. A resident of Chatham, Dr. Bonamo received his bachelor of arts degree from the State University of New York, Oneonta, and his medical degree from the New Jersey Medical School College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark. Both his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology were served at Saint Barnabas. Dr. Bonamo is currently enrolled in a non-residential Masters Program in Health Care Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. "I am confident in Dr. Bonamo's leadership abilities and believe that under his guidance, Saint Barnabas Medical Center will continue to set the standard for medical excellence in the state of New Jersey," said Ronald J. Del Mauro, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System. Board-certified in obstetrics/gynecology, Dr. Bonamo has been active in numerous societies in his field, including: the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American College of Surgeons, the New Jersey Obstetrical and Gynecological Society and the Essex County Medical Society. He is a member of the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Bonamo has been an active faculty member, both at Saint Barnabas and at Mount Sinai Medical School. In 1997, he received the National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education. As Executive Director of Saint Barnabas, Dr. Bonamo is responsible for the daily operations of one of the busiest hospitals in New Jersey. [ top ] |

John F. Bonamo, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., has been named Executive Director of Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Dr. Bonamo had served as Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs since January 2000 and prior to that he was as an attending Saint Barnabas obstetrician/gynecologist for almost 20 years, with a private practice in West Orange.
