Profiles In Giving:
In addition to the superior medical care she delivers, Dr. Gregori has also made a generous donation to support integral programs and services at the Medical Center. The most recent example is her pledge of $500,000 in support of the Medical Center’s Capital Campaign. Her gift was made in honor of Emeritus Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology James L. Breen, M.D., her longtime friend and colleague. The money was earmarked for the enhancement of the James L. Breen, M.D. Obstetrical Pavilion. “Without ulterior motives, without a lot of fuss and not wanting any attention, Dr. Gregori became one of the most generous benefactors in the Medical Center’s history,” said Ronald J. Del Mauro, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, at a dinner held in her honor. Mr. Del Mauro surprised the distinguished physician by announcing that the new, state-of-the-art women’s outpatient surgery center would be named in her honor. In 1969, Dr. Gregori came to Saint Barnabas in the role of Vice Chairperson of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. More than 33 years later, Dr. Gregori was Acting Chairperson of a Department that garnered national and international acclaim. Few OB/GYN Departments in America have the distinction of delivering world-class services for infertility, gynecologic oncology, and maternal-fetal high-risk medicine, in addition to exceptional maternity services. In 2002, she became the first woman to receive the Distinguished Surgeon Award from the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS). The award is presented to a physician who has “contributed immeasurably to this specialty,” and is based on clinical expertise, contributions to the health care of women, and humanitarian efforts. Dr. Gregori has also been a mentor and active developer of both the Saint Barnabas residency program and resident education nationwide. For the past three decades, Dr. Gregori has focused her efforts on patient care, physician education and the advancement of women’s health in New Jersey and beyond. Her career is an example of the difference one life can make in the lives of so many. [ top ] |
