Ronald J. Del Mauro Chairman
Saint Barnabas Medical Center, President and Chief Executive Officer,
Saint Barnabas Health Care System

As a System, we are developing programs that result in improved patient care. Excellence in overall quality and patient satisfaction are part of our culture.

More than five million Americans visit hospitals each year with chest pain. The establishment of Chest Pain Centers throughout the Saint Barnabas System sets us apart as the place to go in the state for anyone experiencing chest pain. The multidisciplinary approach to achieving this milestone involves a team that includes physicians from cardiology, internal medicine and emergency medicine, as well as nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology and emergency medical services.

At the inception of our System, minimally invasive surgery was just being introduced. Today it is an accepted standard of care for our surgeons. Our Renal Program at Saint Barnabas Medical Center and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, which is pioneering new means of organ procurement, is the 6th largest of 240 programs in the United States.

Our daily commitment to providing superior care is enhancing the life and health of our entire region.

The Saint Barnabas Medical Center Foundation provides our supporters with the opportunity to make a direct and lasting impact on our patients’ lives. Every donation, no matter how large or small, enhances our ability to provide compassionate care. Saint Barnabas supporters touch the lives of generations to come, help to create modern medical units, expand hospital services, and acquire cutting-edge technology. We are fortunate to have the support of thousands of friends whose generous contributions enhance patient comfort and patient care, allowing Saint Barnabas to remain one of the community’s most valued health care resources.

In this issue of Family Health, you can read about our Child Life Program. The Child Life Program brings a sense of normalcy to the lives of hospitalized children. This program, one of many at Saint Barnabas, receives donations from community members who want to help make a child’s hospital stay more comfortable.

To make a donation to any of our programs, you can contact the Saint Barnabas Medical Center Foundation at (973) 322-4330, or email foundation@sbhcs.com. We welcome your support
