Help for Infertile Couples From the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Sciences at Saint Barnabas Livingston, N.J. -- The Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science at Saint Barnabas Medical Center has a variety of upcoming events and web-based forums available for current patients and community members with medical and surgical problems related to reproduction and infertility. On Wednesday, May 4, AT 9 P.M. EST, Serena H. Chen, M.D., Director of the Division of Reproductive Medicine at Saint Barnabas, will participate in an on-line chat, sponsored by The International Council on Infertility Information Dissemination, Inc. The topic is “Getting Pregnant after age 35.” To join the discussion, visit www.inciid.org and follow the directions to the chat room. On Saturday, May 7, the Institute will hold an Egg Donor Recipient Forum from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Suite 504. The event, for people considering the use of donor eggs to conceive, will explore the process of a donor egg assisted IVF cycle. People that will share their stories include egg donors and recipients, and Serena H. Chen, M.D., Director of the Institute’s Ovum Donor Program and Team, will also speak. On Saturday, May 14, Margaret Garrisi, M.D., Institute Reproductive endocrinologist, will speak at a RESOLVE event to be held at Saint Barnabas Medical Center from 8 a.m. to noon in the fifth floor board room, East Wing. No reservation is necessary. On Tuesday, June 21, Serena H. Chen, M.D., Director of the Division of Reproductive Medicine at Saint Barnabas, will participate in an on-line chat, sponsored by Fertility Neighborhood. Participants can visit www.fertilityneighborhood.com to ask questions. The Institute runs a 24-hour-a day Message Board, seven days a week, for those who are trying to conceive. The site, at www.sbivf.com, is staffed by attending reproductive endocrinologists Natalie Cekleniak, M.D., Margaret Garrisi, M.D., and Dr. Chen, board-certified reproductive endocrinologists who provide support, education, and general advice regarding infertility, miscarriage, male factor infertility, genetics and preconception concerns.
