Healthy LIFE® Pediatric Weight Management Program Holds Information Sessions

Livingston, N.J. – The Healthy LIFE® Pediatric Weight Management program offered by The Saint Barnabas Pediatric Specialty Center is holding an upcoming information session for families on Monday, September 4, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Interested families are invited to attend an informative evening to meet the program directors, Henry Anhalt, D.O., and Debra Gill, Ph.D., and learn more about the approach and structure of the Healthy LIFE® Pediatric Weight Management Program. New, weekly sessions are scheduled to begin in both September and October 2006.

Healthy LIFE® provides a blame-free, supportive environment for overweight children and their families to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Healthy LIFE® program––Healthy Lifestyle Is For Everyone––helps children reach a healthy weight and teaches them how to make healthier choices without giving up satisfaction and enjoyment.

Each week during group sessions, parents and children set realistic goals to make changes in eating and activity level. They develop plans for achieving these goals based on information and skills learned in the program. In the behavior-based, year-long program, children are first evaluated and treated for any underlying medical problems. Next, they are enrolled in group sessions focused on cognitive and behavior change. Each child has an age-appropriate evaluation to assess his or her eating patterns.

The information session and the classes, which both require pre-registration, are held at the Pediatric Specialty Center at the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center, 200 South Orange Avenue in Livingston. To register, please contact Sean Nealy, program coordinator, at 973-322-7496 or snealy@sbhcs.com. For program detaisl, please visit www.healthylifehealthyweight.com.
