NEW JERSEY FIREFIGHTERS SKI TO BENEFIT
SAINT BARNABAS BURN CENTER

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9, AT MOUNTAIN CREEK SKI AREA,
SOUTH MOUNTAIN

The 20th Annual New Jersey Firefighters Ski Race, hosted by Jersey City Firefighters and Officers, will be held Friday, February 9, 2007, at Mountain Creek Ski Area, South Mountain. Registration begins at 8:00 am. Hundreds of firefighters from all over New Jersey enter. The five-man teams wear their full turn out gear and helmets while racing down the mountain slalom-style holding onto a fire hose (no ski poles). Three of the five must still be upright and holding onto the hose while crossing the finish line to qualify. Points are deducted for losing a helmet or skier. There are plenty of wipeouts but all in good fun for a great cause.! The top winning teams receive trophies during an awards ceremony. There are also raffle prizes to be won. To date, several hundred thousand dollars have been raised.
