Book Signing Announced for Edison Firefighting

Author and firefighter, Eugene A. Enfield Jr., will sign copies of his first book, Edison Firefighting, on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. at Barnes and Nobel Booksellers on Route 22 West in Springfield, N.J.

Edison Firefighting chronicles the history of the Edison Fire Department which dates back to the early part of the 20th century when five separate volunteer fire companies independently organized to protect separate sections of Raritan Township, currently known as Edison. The book, part of the Images of America Series, features images, memorabilia, and photographs from the early days of bucket brigades and horse-drawn carriages to current personnel and apparatus. Significant fires, explosions, and rescues that Edison firefighters confronted throughout the years are revealed within this fascinating book.

Mr. Enfield, a lifelong resident of Edison Township, has been a career firefighter since 1995. He earned a master's degree in fire protection management from John Jay College and is a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1197. He is donating the royalties from Edison Firefighting to Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation.
