Saint Barnabas Medical Center Holds Program During Stroke Awareness Month Livingston, NJ – Over 750,000 people in the United States suffer a stroke each year making it the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of adult disability. May is National Stroke Awareness Month, a time to educate the nation and spread awareness about stroke prevention, symptom recognition and recovery. In recent years stroke deaths have declined by 10,000 Americans. To help raise awareness among the community and continue to reduce stroke deaths and disability, The Comprehensive Stroke Center of Saint Barnabas has planned a free program entitled “Stroke: The Clues & The What-To-Do’s.” Staff from The Comprehensive Stroke Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center will teach you how to recognize the signs of a stroke and how to better manage your individual risk factors. The program will be held on May 29, 2008, from 10:30 a.m. to noon in Conference Rooms A and B at the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center, located at 200 South Orange Avenue in Livingston, NJ (across from the Livingston Mall).
