Saint Barnabas Medical Center to Address the Importance of Cancer Prevention, Screening and Early Detection for All Ages Livingston, N.J. –The American Cancer Society estimates that more than half of all cancer deaths could be prevented if people adopted cancer prevention measures, including receiving routine check-ups, living a healthy lifestyle, and having an awareness of the early signs of cancer. All of us can take steps toward reducing our risks for certain cancers. To help raise awareness, The Cancer Centers of Saint Barnabas Medical Center, in conjunction with JCC Metrowest, will sponsor a free program entitled “Prevention, Screening and Early Diagnosis of Cancer” on November 15, 2009. This program is an opportunity for concerned community members and parents to hear from a multidisciplinary team of physician experts about preventative measures and the importance of detecting cancer early, when there is the greatest chance for cure. A wide variety of topics addressing all age groups will be discussed. Presentation will include the following: · Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Skin Cancer but Were Afraid to Ask · HPV Vaccine: Gardisil - Who, What and Why? · Colon Cancer: An Ounce of Prevention, a Lifetime of Cure · Radon, Lung Cancer and the NJDEP Radon Awareness Program and Prevention Efforts of the Essex County Cancer Coalition Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed the presentations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the program will take place at JCC Metrowest, 760 Northfield Avenue, West Orange, NJ 07052.
